By OPDC Staff
October 2015

The following article highlights the 50 most affordable online paralegal degree programs.

According to the United States Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, the job outlook for paralegals and legal assistants is expected to increase 17 percent faster than other occupations. The projected change is expected until 2022. Based on the projected outlook, now is the time to pursue a paralegal degree, especially if you enjoy investigation, research, and have a strong desire to help others.

Becoming a paralegal or legal assistant requires specialized training. In many cases, employers expect individuals to have an associate’s (two-year degree) in paralegal studies. While it may take only a short time to obtain adequate education for entry-level employment, program price varies from institution to institution. In an effort to keep costs low and education debt at bay for recent graduates, many schools are implementing high scholarship and grant award money that does not require repayment.

Methodology

For the purpose of finding the most affordable online paralegal degree programs, we examined 117 schools based on two- and four-year degree offerings in legal assistant and paralegal studies. All programs were delivered 100 percent online or in a distance learning format. The schools listed below are in order of affordability based on undergraduate tuition and fees.

Tuition and fees listed for each school are the most current rate for in-state, full-time undergraduates. The tuition rate was gathered by the U.S. Department of Education’s Institute of Education Sciences, National Center for Education Statistics, and is subject to change without notice.
