Tallahassee Community College offers an A.S. In Paralegal/Legal Studies program in the institution’s Division of Behavioral, Social Sciences, and Education. This associate’s degree program is designed to give students the education and skills they need to work as a paralegal or legal assistant. In addition, this degree can be a stepping stone for students considering pursuing a law degree in the future. Courses are offered in an online or evening format.
TCC’s A.S. in Paralegal/Legal Studies can be completed in five semesters over two years. All students in this program are required to take 18 general credit hours in communications, mathematics, science, humanities, and social sciences core courses, in addition to 46 credit hours of major-specific courses. Major-specific courses include Legal Concepts of Business, Legal Writing, Real Estate Law and Property Transactions, Family Law, Microcomputer Applications for Business, and Criminal Law. In addition, students can choose to participate in the Technology and Professional Programs Internship course.
Tallahassee Community College offers paralegal students the opportunity to receive free tutoring to ensure that every student is successful. All students are also assigned an advisor to assist with course selection, registration, and other issues that affect graduation timing.
TCC’s Division of Behavioral, Social Sciences, and Education also offers unique opportunities for students to get involved in the student body, including sponsoring the Brain Bowl team. Brain Bowl is an academic quiz team where participants answer questions in the areas of science, math, history, literature, social sciences, and other academic areas. The team participates in three tournaments a year for a chance to be invited to the state and national tournaments. TCC pays student travel fees to participate in the program and participants are eligible for cash scholarships towards tuition.

Tallahassee Community College was founded in 1966 to provide a high-quality education to residents living in Leon, Gadsden, and Wakulla counties. Today, TCC has students from throughout Florida, the United States, and around the World.
Each year, TCC enrolls at least 24,000 students in degree and non-credit seeking programs. The average student to faculty ratio at TCC is 25:1 across 70 degree and certificate programs. Some of Tallahassee Community College’s associate degree programs include building construction management, dental hygiene, early childhood development and education, pharmacy management, surgical services, and computer programming and web development. In addition, TCC offers dozens of certificate programs in areas such as applied cyber security, business entrepreneurship, endoscopy technician, law enforcement, nurse assistant, and small business management. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is also available, as is a workforce development program designed for adult learners.
Tallahassee Community College awards two-year and associate degrees designed to give students the skills necessary to enter the job market. TCC’s programs also offer an affordable way to complete core requirements for bachelor’s degree programs, with 79% of the college’s students transferring to a Florida 4-year institution following graduation. Several of TCC’s programs offer tracks to make transferring to a bachelor’s degree program easy.

Tallahassee Community College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. This accreditation allows TCC to award associate and bachelor’s degrees.
Tallahassee Community College Application Requirements
Tallahassee Community College offers spring, summer, and fall admissions and start dates. Prospective students should complete TCC’s online application, uploading proof of residency at the time of application. Transcripts or GED test scores are then mailed to TCC’s Admissions and Records Office. Following receipt of transcripts, the admissions team will work with the prospective student to determine what, if any, placement testing is required prior to the start of class. Finally, all new students complete a two-part student orientation, which has both online workshops and a mandatory on-campus advising appointment.
Because TCC is a community college, they do not require ACT or SAT scores for admission. However, most prospective students must have a high school degree, or be on track to receive one, or have successfully completed their GED. Tallahassee Community College does offer dual enrollment for high school students as well, and applicants seeking entrance into this program are required to submit SAT or ACT test scores in most cases of dual enrollment.
Adults seeking entrance to the continuing education or non-degree program are required to complete an application and submit unofficial transcripts for high school, a GED program, or post-secondary programs. They also must submit a non-degree course request form each term.
Tuition and Financial Aid
Tallahassee Community College has four different tuition categories. Undergraduate students that claim Florida residency are charged an average of $100 per credit hour, while undergraduates from out of state pay approximately $387 per credit hour. For Florida residents in the adult vocational program, the average tuition is $2.67 per clock hour and for out-of-state adult vocational students, the average tuition is $10.68 per clock hour.
To help students afford their education at Tallahassee Community College, TCC offers millions of dollars in scholarships each year based on merit. Students may also be eligible for scholarships and grants from state and local programs, including Florida Bright Futures, which awards need-based aid. Need-based grants can also be obtained through the U.S. Department of Education’s Pell Grant program. In addition Federal Work Study program and TCC offer on or off campus part-time job opportunities to assist students in earning money to pay tuition and other college expenses.
Current or former foster youth living in Florida are eligible for fee waivers and tuition exception. Prospective students who are also current or former foster youth should contact their Independent Living worker for assistance with documentation necessary to receive these waivers.
The financial aid deadline for spring admission is early December. For those starting coursework in the summer, financial aid applications are due by April. Those beginning studies in the fall should have financial aid applications submitted by August.
